Scholarships

American Legion Scholarships are available in the Guidance Department

Lewis and Clark Scholarships are available in the Guidance Department

 

U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship Program:  A scholarship available to Seniors who plan on attending a two or four college next fall should apply.  No essay or minimum GPA required.  Applications are available thru March.  Apply online at usbank.com/studentloans

 

"Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of Year" 2010 Award Program:  Student athletes are encouraged to nominate themselves or another classmate at bodymymilk.com until March 5th.

 

Illinois Elks Children's Care Program:  College Scholarships for Physical & Occupational Therapy Majors.  Applications available online at iea-ccc.info.  Deadline is March 12th

 

Diocesan Council of Catholic Women:  The Diocesan Council of Catholic Women will be offering a $1,000 scholarship to a Catholic High School Senior student. See Ms Pearcy for an application form. Application Deadline is March 13th.

 

Illinois Division of Sons of Confederate Veterans Illinois Society, Military Order of Stars and Bars: Descendants of a male who served honorably in the Army, Navy, Judicial, Executive, or Civil Service are encouraged to apply. A 500 word essay must also be submitted. Information available in Ms. Pearcy's office, deadline is March 15th.

 

Illinois Lumber and Material Dealers Assoc. Educational Foundation:  Scholarships between $500. and $2,000 will be offered to students who pursue industry-related course work at colleges and universities. May be enrolled in a trade school, 2yr. junior college or 4yr. college. See Ms Pearcy for details. Deadline is April 1

 

North Greene Educational Association Local 3818: A $500 scholarship awarded to a graduating Senior going into Education.  See Ms. Newingham for an application.  Due April 1st.

 

Heneghan and Associates:  A $250 scholarship awarded to a student enrolled in Engineering, Surveying, or Math. Applications available in the guidance office. Deadline is April 5.

 

Ameren Illinois Minority Scholarship Program:  A $2500 annual scholarship available to any Senior students interested in majoring in an Engineering discipline(i.e. electrical, mechanical) and not a relative of an Ameren employee.  Applications are available in Ms. Pearcy's office. Deadline is April 9th.

 

2010 Alexander Hamilton Citizenship Achievement Award:  Available to Juniors who are college bound and have a strong record of community service.  Application deadline is April 16th, and are available in Ms. Pearcy's office.

 

Halli Burton Memorial Scholarship:  One graduating senior from NGHS who plans on attending college will have an opportunity to win a $500 scholarship which will be awarded by the Burton family. Interested seniors must submit an essay regarding the topic of "abuse". Essays must be in a sealed envelope addressed to the Hallie Burton Memorial Scholarship.  Deadline to turn in your essay is May 10.  The scholarship will be awarded on graduation night.

 

Jessie Griswold Trust: A $1500 per semester loan provided thru White Hall Bank.  The loan is interest free and does not have to be paid back until after graduation.  Applications can be picked up in Ms. Pearcy's office or at White Hall Bank.  Due date is June 1st 

 

JCH Foundation Medical Education Fund Loan/Scholarship:  Jerseyville Community Hospital Foundation is offering a Medical Education Scholarship Program for students pursuing a degree and a career in the healthcare/medical field.  It is for $500 per semester. The deadline to apply is June 1stThree letters of recommendation and a one page essay are required.  For more information contact Lynn Currie at 618-498-8392 or lcurrie@jch.org.  Applications available in the guidance office.

 

SIUE School of Engineering:  Seniors who plan on entering SIUE and majoring in Engineering should apply, see Ms. Pearcy or e-mail SOEpieces@lists.siue.edu for further information.

 

Activities

 

American Cancer Society Summer High School Research Program:  An 8 week summer research program for Junior's to help introduce them to scientific research.  Applications are must be postmarked by March 22nd.

4th Annual Midwest Tech. Institute's High School Welding Competition: 2 separate welding competitions will be held in Springfield(April 9th) and Peoria(April 30th).  Students may not participate in both competitions. Explore Occupational Therapy at Saint Louis University:  Any student interested in Occupational Therapy are welcome to attend this fun, hands-on experience.  The event will be held Saturday March 6th, from 8:30 to 12 at Saint Louis University.  A $10 registration fee is required, registration forms are available in Ms. Pearcy's  office.  Deadline is March 1st.

 

The Ayn Rand Institute Essay Contest:  Available to all high school students.  Deadline for Freshman and Sophomores is March 20th, 2010 and April 26th, 2010 for Juniors and Seniors.
