Dear Students, Staff, and Community Members,
On March 20, Governor JB Pritzker’s put in place a mandatory stay at home procedure, a necessary measure to slow the spread of a deadly and highly contagious pandemic. This means in-person instruction will continue to be suspended at NGUD #3 through at least April 7, in order to help keep our community and school safe.
Personnel who are preparing and distributing meals and learning materials to students are performing essential functions and are exempt from the stay at home mandate. View. This includes all North Greene Unit District #3 school district staff needing to complete any associated work duties. You do not need a letter or pass of any type from the school district to travel to and from work. We are not under quarantine and staff are allowed to come into the building to use technology and make packets as needed for students to be picked up, delivered, or mailed out. We are trying to get the materials prepared by staff out to students through mail, pick up/delivery with lunches, or pick up from the school office. I urge staff to please get enough work out to students to ensure the continuity of educational services through April 7 at this time. The type of materials whether it be electronic or paper pencil is up to each individual teacher.
All school days through March 30 will count as Act of God Days. We are still waiting on ISBE to issue guidance regarding March 31, and beyond. ISBE contemplates that districts will eventually transition to Remote Instructional Days. At this time, we need to seriously be considering about what Remote Instructional Days would look like here at NGUD #3. As guidance from ISBE is released, we will begin to explore what is possible and what is reasonable under these unprecedented circumstances.
We are most definitely in uncharted territory. NGUD #3 is committed to making sure students and parents have everything they need for as long as it is necessary to suspend in-person instruction:
Our two main priorities at this time:
1. Ensure all students’ nutritional needs are met.
2. Ensure all students have access to remote instruction through whatever means. possible.
Students and Parents: Breakfast and Lunches are available for pick up at both attendance centers from 9:00-11:00 on school days. We will still be delivering meals by bus to the country bus riders homes. If you are aware of anyone in need of meals please contact your child's attendance center. Also if your child is in need of instructional or learning materials in paper pencil form or online please contact your child's attendance center with the name of the student, grade level, and teacher. We will see that materials are made available to any and all students as needed.
