Letter to Parents

Dear North Greene Elementary Parents/Guardians:

First of all, I would like to commend and thank each of you for your patience and cooperation during this unprecedented and uncertain time. Your efforts to pick up/drop off work and encouraging your child to follow through with remote learning is truly appreciated.

There have been many questions regarding grading. North Greene Community Unit #3 is following the Illinois State Board of Education’s directive, remote learning will not harm students’ grades. However, this does not excuse students from completing their assignments. The goal during this time is to focus on review and enrichment of learning that took place during the first two trimesters.

Students in grades K through 6th will be given standards-based grades as follows:

  • 1 indicates a student is NOT meeting standards

  • 3 indicates a student IS meeting standards

  • Blank indicates the skill was not taught

A notation will also be made explaining grades were impacted by COVID-19.

Students are responsible for completing work according to their teacher’s direction. Completed pencil/paper packets may be turned in at one of the following locations (please mark with student’s name, teacher’s name and grade):

  • Drive-thru lane on west side (Spruce St.) of NG Elementary (9:00 - 11:00 AM Mon.- Fri.)

  • Country students may return work with paraprofessional/bus driver that delivers lunch

  • Drop box* on the east side (Jackson St.) of NG Elementary playground

  • Drop box* at east side of high school parking lot near junior high entrance

    *Boxes have signs on them

ALL COMPLETED WORK IS DUE FRIDAY, MAY 15, 2020.

Unless notified, elementary students will be promoted to the next grade however, students are responsible for completing their assigned work in order to receive a “3” for meets standards.

    LAPTOP RETURN:

All laptops are due by Friday, May 15, 2020. Laptops must be delivered in person to North Greene Elementary. Devices may be returned at the drive-thru between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM on May 15, 2020.
