Happy Valentine's Day! Looking for an inexpensive way to show your child some love today? Make short simple notes. Note different things that you like about your child, why you are proud of them, and that you love them. Hide the notes around the house and have your child find them. Sit with your child and read each note to them. They will enjoy the time with you as well as the sweet words.

Notes of encouragement for kids. For example, "You are so very loved and special."
Fred Rogers was right when he said that for our children, play is serious learning and it is the work of childhood. Promote your child playing, this is where they will learn.

A quote from Fred Rogers. Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.

Here is a fun Valentine snack activity for your kiddo. Find different ingredients that you would like to add to the mix. These may be items you already have on hand. You can use things like chex mix, M & M's, raisins, marshmallows, pretzels, teddy grahams, or any other favorite snack item. Let your child help make the mix by putting the ingredients together and mixing it. If your child is a bit older you can "read off a recipe" off to your child as they follow the steps. For example, "Put 5 marshmallows in the bowl. Next, put 3 raisins in. Mix well." Your child will enjoy helping create this snack with you!

Does your child not like to get all bundled up to go outside? Or maybe it is too cold to be outside? Your child can still enjoy the snow by bringing it inside! Fill a container such as a pan, tub, or bowl with snow and bring it indoors. Your child can play with just the snow or you can add small toys and/or containers for them to play with too. Another idea is letting them paint on the snow! Put water in some small bowls or cups, add a few drops of food coloring, give them paint brushes, and let them be an artist!

Watch the video below! This explains children and their BIG feelings. Young children are still trying to learn how to understand, control, and cope with their feelings. We as adults, parents, and caregivers still struggle at times with our feelings and need to keep this in mind when the child in our life has their next "fit". https://vimeo.com/136542833?ref=fb-share&fbclid=IwAR3ERra7yEA6sBVCw4jHSkkGUUe3QKihgtOSKhVl2mdGORlf9n7jlHLCIU8

Can you spot🔎 the three things that make this #TummyTime session fun for baby? 1️⃣ Sibling involvement. Who doesn't love hanging out and chatting it up with an older sibling? 2️⃣ Getting down on the floor at baby's eye level. Babies love faces! 3️⃣ Toys. Place baby's favorite toys or fun new toys within reaching distance. ➡️ More tips to making Tummy Time sessions a success: This information can be found at --https://pathways.org/topics-of-development/tummy-time/#5

Have some fun with the kids indoors, making bird feeders out of pine cones! -Tie a string to the pine cone to hang it outside when finished. -Have your child roll the pine cone in peanut butter or honey. (They can also use a spoon or other utensil to spread it on.) -Then have your child roll the pine cone in birdseed. *For this activity you can buy pine cones at the store or you and your child can look outside for some! If you want another option other than pine cones, you can also use old toilet paper rolls! This can be a messy activity, but messy is GOOD! This is a great sensory activity for those little fingers! 😊

January is National Bath Safety Month --Never leave children under 4 years old alone in the tub. Accidents can happen in an instant. --Always wait until the tub is finished filling before putting your child in because the temperature can change as it fills. --Beware of sharp edges, especially with kids. Use a rubber cover for the faucet and avoid hard bath toys. --This information can be found at the website: https://blog.healthalliance.org/national-bath-safety-month/
